Do you have a story that highlights how #MuseumsDoMore? Now is
your chance to share it with your museum community here in
The Spring 2019 issue of INFOrm will focus on the ways
that museums are addressing diversity and inclusion, both
internally and with their exhibitions, programming, and
communities. According to the American Alliance of Museums
"diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion in all aspects of
museum structure and programming are vital to the future viability,
relevance, and sustainability of museums."* To be truly
inclusive, museums have to challenge traditional power dynamics and
confront issues of privilege to create more representative
As a member-driven publication INFOrm is the perfect
place for you to share what your institution is doing in this
regard, communicate best practices, and help to foster a sense of
collaboration between Alberta museum professionals to highlight the
vital work that museums are doing to create more vibrant, engaged,
and connected communities.
Examples of topics may include (but are not limited to):
- Collaborating with underserved or marginalized communities in
the development of exhibitions and programs;
- Addressing imbalances in museum collections;
- Diversifying the museum workforce; and
- Developing innovative and inclusive solutions to address issues
of social justice.
We welcome entries from museums at all stages of their
organizational life. Submissions should range from 300 - 500 words
and may include relevant links, photos, videos, or other
multimedia. Please note that the AMA reserves the right to edit
articles and photos.
Deadline for article submissions is April 12,
