About

This one-day workshop will explore how museums can maintain reciprocal relationships with like-minded organizations in order to build a stronger, more respectful community. The day will begin with an overview of the Forts’ Indigenous narrative programming, which has grown substantially since the establishment of relationships with the Confederacy of Treaty 6 First Nations and the Métis Nation of Alberta. During the tour, participants will have a chance to see First Nations and Métis interpreters sharing First Nations and Métis stories on-site. After lunch members of the Forts’ Indigenous Relations department will give a presentation, followed by a Q & A panel with representatives of partner groups. The day will close with a practical workshop on interpreting Indigenous narratives.

Due to the historic nature of the site, please contact the AMA for more information about the events' accessibility.
