Cooking for Victory:
A Social Snack Event

SocialEventJune

Carrot and Honey Cookies, with recipe from "Wartime Sugar Savers," a leaflet issued by Consumer Section - Marketing Service, Department of Agriculture. Image courtesy of Kathryn Lyons, Canadian War Museum.

Unwind after your sessions with a social event sponsored by the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum. Join historian Dr. Stacey Barker and museum recipe tester Kathryn Lyons as they explore recipes from the Canadian homefront during the Second World War when food restrictions required some creative cooking.

Try your own wartime recipes and see if your pandemic shopping experience has required similar resourcefulness!

Get your snacks ready ahead of time: download the wartime recipe for Carrot and Honey Cookies through the June Conference Event Hub.

This social event is inspired by the content from the Canadian War Museum's travelling exhibition, World War Women, which will be visiting Alberta soon and is available through 2023.
